Avalanche

2011-2012 season avalanche classes

Avalanche Awareness Clinics - short (~1 hr) clinics on general safety and preparedness for those venturing into the backcountry in fall, winter, and spring.  These are generally free to attend, see link for more information.

Intro to Avalanche Course - This is a more intensive course than an Awareness clinic, consisting of two evening class times and an optional field day.  This course covers the basics of traveling in avalanche terrain and avalanche rescue.  See link for info.

Avalanche Level 1 - This is a very intensive, extended course requiring three evening classes in Fort Collins and a full weekend at Cameron Pass.  This course covers backcountry planning, travel, safety, and rescue in avalanche terrain.  We will offer two separate Level 1 courses this year, see link for more information.

Avalanche Level 2 - This course is aimed at ski patrollers within the Rocky Mountain Division of the National Ski Patrol.  For Level 2 courses for recreationists check out Colorado AIARE providers like Colorado Mountain School, Alpine World Ascents, and Silverton Avalanche School (plus many others).
