Mountain Travel and Rescue
2008
This class is open to all Diamond Peaks Candidates and Patrollers and the level 1 section is a requirement of all Basic Patrollers for DPSP. We will be doing both an MTR1 and MTR2 sections again.

MTR 1
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to travel and work in reasonable safety and comfort in the outdoor environment and to be an asset to a search and/or rescue team, including possible overnight operations. Field practice includes practice in navigation, travel, survival, basic search and/or rescue exercises, and an overnight campout.
4/7 & 4/8 - classroom sessions (Monday & Tuesday), 1800-2130
4/12 - field session 1, depart Ted's place for Cameron Pass area by 0700 and will be an all day event
4/19-20 - winter overnight, depart Ted's place at 0700 on 4/19 and will return after two full days of field work.
MTR 2
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to complete more difficult field operations and to assist in the coordination of search and/or rescue operations that may extend over several days. Field practice includes advanced navigation skills, extended patient care, and advanced search and rescue situations.
4/7 & 4/8 - classroom sessions (Monday & Tuesday), 1800-2130, special homework for MTR 2 participants.
4/12 - field session 1, depart Ted's place for Cameron Pass area by 0700 and will be an all day event

Diamond Peaks Ski Patrol offers an MTR class approximately each winter. Often we pair up with other patrols to joint teach the class. The class usually consists of two 3-4 hour sessions and a weekend in the backcountry practicing winter camping, rescue and travel.
